NHS continuing care benefit

In theory, people who have an acute nursing requirement because their primary care need is healthcare are entitled to Continuing Care Benefit.

This is provided by the NHS and funds all costs associated with the care need. NHS Continuing Healthcare is a package of continuing care arranged and funded solely by the NHS. It's also sometimes known as fully funded NHS care.

For a person to be entitled to NHS Continuing Care Benefit they must meet the Health Authority's eligibility criteria. Visit the Department of Health website here.

To claim, contact your local Health Authority or Primary Care Trust. To appeal, contact the National Health Service Ombudsman on 0845 015 4033.
